Using Your Foundation as a Eye Base

If you watch any of my videos you will see that I am a repeat offender when it comes to using my foundation as an eye base. An eye primer or base can range anywhere between $7-$36 now that’s a hefty sum to be dropping on an eye base. Using your foundation as your eyeshadow base first mutes out the colour of your lids and setting it with a translucent powder gets it ready for any eyeshadow that you want to apply.

Using Your Lipstick as an Eyeshadow Base/ Blush

Not all eyeshadows are as pigmented as we would like. However, I’ve learnt your lipsticks can be a great alternative to being an eye base. Before going in to layer the eyeshadow try using your lipstick as a base. You can also use your lipstick or eyeshadow as a blush. This is something I constantly do and trust me the result is amazing. Try taking a look at the cost of a cream blush? it’s overpriced and imagine if you wanted different shades of blush how quickly that would rack up.

Use you Eyeshadow Palette when In Doubt

Have you taken a closer look at your eyeshadow palettes? there are hidden gems in there, one being that with the right shade of brown you can get to fill in your brows perfectly without having to spend extra on brow pencil or brow powder which can range from $2-$45. It can serve as a bronzer, blush and even a highlighter and these are all things that I have done and gotten amazing results.

Use Your Brushes In Different Ways

When I first started learning how to do makeup I would buy every brush I saw because I thought it was the brush that made the look, now don’t get me wrong brushes are important but you don’t need 5 wing liner brushes nor do you need 18 different blending brushes, unless you’re a makeup artist. The best way to know how to work with your tools is to try it out and see, I tend to use my powder brush to bronze which gives me a much softer finish. It’s about knowing how to use your tools.
